Hey guys, first time posting here, I'm so glad this forum exists . . . now I know i'm not the only one with an unnatural attraction to sledding. anyways . . . been breaking sleds like mad these past two seasons, and I'm getting sick of replacing a sled every time I go out. It seems plastic sled have gotten worse over time. Luckily I have my trusty 15 yo "torpedo" but sadly it is coming to it's final days. Wanted to invest in a "good" sled, if such a thing still exists. after some poking on the net I found this site www.madriverrocket.com/roots.htmlI was wondering If anyone has used one of these sleds. they are advertised as being able to carve a turn, can they? also, are they worth shelling out $100 for.

I grew up using these sleds! They are incredible! If the snow is soft or powder, you can control it as much as skiing or snowboarding. On packed, ski trail snow, you can still turn, but not "carve", as you would need metal rails for that. The best sledding is in 8 inch deep powder when its deep, because you have TOTAL control. I hike up to the top of mountains and ride down between the trees with it! There is a great video on the Mad River Rocket homepage: www.madriverrocket.com
